Social action is an essential aspect of church life: we are convinced as a church that God wants us to improve the life of all people in our community and around the world. Therefore we are currently working in partnership with local and overseas agencies.

Local Projects

We have a number of projects that focus primarily on both young and the elderly people in the community. Kids' Club and Adventurers have already seen children and young people come together to enjoy a good "family day out"

We have a number of community projects that focus on children and young people at one end of the age range and on elderly people at the other. We also like to bring both children and the elderly together at events like our Chinese New Year party, shown in the pictures below.

We have worked closely with the WRVS [Women's Royal Voluntary Service] and HVA [Hart Voluntary Action] to provide regular events for the elderly. We have held a tea party, celebrated VE Day, and had an old-time film show. Most events involve eating lovely food!

Mercy Ships

Mercy Ships programmes promote health and well-being by serving the urgent surgical needs of the forgotten poor and empowering developing communities. Mercy Ships uses hospital ships and land-based programmes with multi-national crew and staff to bring world-class medical assistance and long-term sustainable development to some of the world's poorest regions.

India

Fleet Family Church supports a computer training project based in North East India. The project's aim is to provide computer labs in West Bengal to educate disadvantaged people in the use of computers and provide services beneficial to the local economy, in order to provide better job opportunities and accelerate the development of local industries.

Zimbabwe

As a church we have contributed to the help provided by Newfrontiers to Zimbabwe. For more information on how this appeal is providing both immediate and long term support to the people of Zimbabwe, visit http://www.newfrontiers.xtn.org/zimbabwe/crisis-report.
